In February, Sharolyn Wilkinson joined us at Gilbe In February, Sharolyn Wilkinson joined us at Gilbert Toastmasters a little timid about public speaking; five months later she took the stage with confidence and painted a picture with her words, sharing the wonder and awe of nature she experienced on a month long adventure with her daughter Jessica.

"Last fall my daughter told me she wanted to spend a month car camping in the Pacific Northwest, at first I thought, that's kind of a crazy idea, but the more I thought about it, the more I wanted to be included. Just before we went to go I said to her I don't want to be a mom on this trip, I want to be a friend."

"We went to five national parks, six state parks, we went on eighteen hikes, and we had a marvelous time. We splashed in the ocean, we wandered in forests, we hiked mountains that were crested with snow. We climbed sand dunes, we found sand dollars, and saved star fish. It was an amazing, amazing trip."

Sharolyn arrived back in Gilbert on the day of her speech changed for the better from this adventure of a lifetime and recounted the tale with the poetry of nature's majesty and she concluded with a challenge to all of us:

"I'd like to encourage you as well, to stop, to pause, to take in the wonder that is around you, to feel the joy, feel the peace of being present in the moment, and let that transform you, as it has transformed me."

Welcome back Sharolyn! Thank you for coming back and, through the beauty of your words, allowing us to share in this adventure with you.
