We had our first meeting of February 2021 and no o We had our first meeting of February 2021 and no one shrunk from their shadow.  We are happy to welcome Camie, our newest member.  Jenny Hoffman, who recently joined, also just gave her Icebreaker. 
The Spirit Award was shared this week by Marie Feutrier and Harvey Schroeder for jumping in at the last minute.  Renee Pierce shined in Table Topics.  Tina Daha earned the Best Evaluator honors.  And in her first speech, Jenny won the Best Speaker award.
Reminder that this week, 2/11, is our Humorous Speech and International Speech contest.  Contact Vincent Feutrier if you would like to help out as a functionary. We had quite the exciting meeting to round out the We had quite the exciting meeting to round out the year!  On December 12, as we all tried to "chillax", we voted in the next officers for the first half of 2021:  Vincent Feutrier continuing as President, Megan Stuff taking on VP Education, Win Ip will be VP Memborship, Anna Rowe as VP Mentor, Kate Eldredge as Secretary, DJ Reed as Treasurer, Rajeev Dave as VP Technology, and Renee Pierce as Sergeant at Arms.
As many had their Zoom space decorated, virtually or physically, Adam Daha took the prize for best decorative sweater, as it glittered and blinked!
DJ won the Spirit award....and was dressed festively.  Jim captured Best Table Topics.  Julie P was Best Evaluator.  And Andrea shined as Best Speaker. 

Our next meeting is in January 2021.  Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
For our 11/5 meeting, the theme was "France Fun Fa For our 11/5 meeting, the theme was "France Fun Facts", and we had a "cornocopia" of French-related Table Topics.  Julie Caliendo was the winner with the best Table Topic response....Oui!  Tina Daha dazzled us as the Best Evaluator.  Rob Fleischner carried home the Spirit award for filling in as speaker at the last minute.  And Rob Fleischner also was voted Best Speaker of the evening.

Our October 22nd meeting's theme was Computers, bu Our October 22nd meeting's theme was Computers, but we humanly and warmly welcomed two new members!  Welcome to Sarah and Ebony!
 For our nightly awards, DJ Reed captured Best Evaluator.  Julie Caliendo showed lots of flair and won Best Table Topics.  The Spirit award went to multiple people for filling in spots at the last minute.  And Best Speaker for the evening with a moving visual tribute to her late husband was Blairanne Revak.

Our 9/10 meeting's theme was "Positive Thinking Da Our 9/10 meeting's theme was "Positive Thinking Day", which was a great idea for these times, and the word was "capricious". Marie filled in as speaker at the last minute and won both the Spirit award and Best Speaker. Yay Marie! Tina garnered Best Table Topics, while Dean shined as Best Evaluator.

At our August 4th meeting, the theme was Romance. At our August 4th meeting, the theme was Romance. Our guest Win along with Julie Caliendo tied to capture Best Table Topics. Walter was Best Evaluator, while Susan received the Spirit award. Harvey asked the musical question "Who do you love?", then segued to implore the listeners to vote, and won the Best Speaker of the night.

We had a not very "surreptitious" meeting, with an We had a not very "surreptitious" meeting, with another new member to join! The newly-coined "Haus of Daha" by Matt Patterson, aka Tina and Adam, together hauled in the Spirit award, while Tina went on to also capture Best Table Topics. Jim squeezed around them to garner Best Evaluator, while Greg showed us his salesmanship to grab Best Speaker.  RSVP on our Meetup site to get the Zoom info if you are a guest.
July 16th: Induction day! Our new officers were in July 16th: Induction day! Our new officers were installed by Area Director Amanda Cuda, and past officers thanked for their service.
We had over 30 attendees, including guests. The theme was Anti-boredom, and our meeting was energetic as always, including using the difficult word pusillanimous. Jim excelled at Best Table Topics. Renee was Best Evaluator. Marie got the Spirit award for all her behind the scenes work. And Mac Griffith joined us from Tucson to give a fascinating speech on bats to garner Best Speaker.

Our July 9th meeting theme was Hamilton and we had Our July 9th meeting theme was Hamilton and we had lots of creative discussion of that in Table Topics.  We sought to "bolster" our speaking skills while having a few guests joining us again, one who will become a member!  Julie Przybyla wowed us with her Table Topic prowess.  Anna excelled at Evaluation.  Renee Pierce filled in at the last minute and shined as Best Speaker.  And just getting over the Virus, Walter won the Spirit award for still taking on the Timer role.  Thanks so much for everyone who attended and we always welcome repeat and new guests!
Aware of the powerful issues surrounding us, the C Aware of the powerful issues surrounding us, the Club had another lively meeting on June 4.  The theme was "Take Out", and our TopicMaster Manu showed us how there are many different ways to interpret that phrase.  Rajeev rose to occasion to win Best Table Topics.  Jennifer Tamayo Sebastian won the Spirit award for jumping in to take a role last minute.  Vincent Feutrier was full of energy as Best Evaluator.  And Renee Pierce, full of flare and passion about her subject, captured the Best Speaker award.

Towards the end of the meeting, it was discussed how the Club would like to show solidarity and sensitivity to people of color and who are grieving over George Floyd's death and all that it means.  It was agreed that the Club would seek to come up with a phrase at our next meeting that members could record on video which would be posted on our website.

As part of this ongoing dialog, we would like to share this about our Club:
Gilbert Toastmasters is a diverse Club composed of people of all different races, nationalities, age, gender, religion and walks of life.  We support each other through our lifelong journey of improving our communication and leadership skills, and individual growth. We had another great turnout for our 5/21 meeting, We had another great turnout for our 5/21 meeting, including two guests from New York City, who were also Toastmasters!  While the word of the day was isolation, we were anything but, with participation by all. @djkim29 David won the Spirit award. Vincent F @vincent_feutrier won the Table Topics award, DJ won Best Evaluator, and Rajeev @geniusrmd won Best Speaker.

While the theme was "Made in Arizona", it was the While the theme was "Made in Arizona", it was the night of the little chairs for our alternate meeting location at Greenfield Elementary School on 2/20/20. Rob Fleischner shone as Best Speaker. Guest Amanda captured Best Table Topics. And Tina Daha roped in dual honors as Best Evaluator and Spirit Award.

Don't forget, next meeting, 2/27, is at our usual location at Greenfield Junior High School and is our fun and exciting contest night! Come and bring a friend or family!

Rob won Best Table Topics for his unique commencement speech. Lauren excelled at Best Speaker. Vincent Feutrier was Best Evaluator and captured the Spirit award.

Manu excelled as Best Speaker. Julie P was Best Evaluator. Adam Daha showed his skills as Best Table Topics. And Tina Daha again claimed the Spirit Award!

Tall Tales and International speech contests will be held on 2/27.  Speak to Tina if you are interested in participating as a contestant or official.

We had a few last minute substitutions, so Blair and Tina shared the Spirit award for their clutch assistance. Allecia shone as the Best Speaker.
